Where Delkor shines, and what to know
Strengths
- Owned by Clarios, one of the world's largest car battery makers
- Large, modern Korean production plant
- Covers both JIS and DIN sizes
- Positioned between value and premium on cost
Worth knowing
- Less known by name in the UAE than Amaron or Varta, so some buyers hesitate
- Not every size is stocked locally, especially larger AGM cases
Best for
- Lexus and Toyota owners wanting a step up from basic sealed batteries
- Korean cars needing EFB or AGM
- Drivers who value a global group behind a Korean factory
How Delkor copes with a UAE summer
Delkor MF batteries manage UAE summers on a par with good Korean sealed batteries and tend to show a steady voltage when tested after a hot afternoon. For a Lexus or Prado that sits in a basement during the week and does long highway runs at weekends, they cope well. Cars with start-stop should use the EFB or AGM version, which handles repeated restarts in heat far better.
Delkor was founded in Korea in 1985 and entered a joint venture with Johnson Controls after it bought Delphi's battery business. In 2010 Johnson Controls took a 90 percent stake, and the plant later passed to Clarios with the rest of that battery business. The investment expanded the Korean factory to around ten million batteries a year. For UAE drivers this matters because Delkor batteries come from a large, modern plant with global quality systems, yet they are priced closer to other Korean brands. Our technicians use Delkor on Lexus and Toyota fitments where owners want something a step above a basic sealed battery.

Delkor battery questions
Question not here? Send a message and a technician answers, not a bot.
Who owns Delkor?
Delkor is owned by Clarios, the battery company that also makes Varta and Optima. Clarios inherited it from Johnson Controls, which took majority control in 2010. The batteries are produced in South Korea.
Is Delkor the same as Varta inside?
They share an owner, but they are built in different plants to their own specifications. Delkor is engineered mainly around JIS sizes for Asian cars, while Varta focuses on DIN sizes for European cars. Pick by what your car needs, not by the shared parent.
Is Delkor good for a Lexus?
Yes, Delkor makes the JIS sizes most Lexus models use, and its capacity ratings suit their electrical demand. Hybrid Lexus models have a separate 12V auxiliary battery that may be a different type, often located in the boot. We confirm the exact battery from the VIN before the visit.
How do I check how old a Delkor battery is?
The production code is stamped on the lid or printed near the terminals. It records when the battery left the factory, not when it was fitted, so keep your fitting invoice as well. Our technician reads the code before installation and notes the date on the invoice.
