GS MF
Japanese sedans and SUVs without idle-stop
Japanese battery heritage for Toyota, Lexus, Nissan and Honda owners
GS Yuasa is a Japanese battery company formed from two of the country's oldest battery makers, and it supplies batteries to Japanese carmakers. In the UAE it is the natural like-for-like choice for Toyota, Lexus, Nissan and Honda owners who want a Japanese brand in a Japanese car. The range covers standard sealed batteries, idle-stop EFB and AGM.
GS Yuasa was created in 2004 when Japan Storage Battery, whose GS initials honour its founder Genzo Shimadzu, merged with Yuasa Corporation. Both companies have roots in the early twentieth century, and today the Kyoto-based group makes batteries for cars, motorcycles, industry and even spacecraft. GS batteries for the Asian and Gulf markets come from the group's plants and joint ventures across Asia, so the label may show a country other than Japan while the design and specification remain GS Yuasa's. Owners who want their Camry, Patrol or Accord to keep a Japanese battery under the bonnet tend to ask for GS by name, and the JIS sizing makes it an exact fit.

GS batteries are built for hot Asian markets and handle the UAE well, particularly in Japanese SUVs where the battery sits near the front grille and gets airflow on the move. Expect the usual two to three summers from a GS MF in city use. The weak spot is the GS Hybrid type, which is low-maintenance rather than sealed, so its electrolyte level is worth checking after the hottest months.

GS Yuasa is a Japanese company headquartered in Kyoto, but many of the batteries sold in the Gulf come from its plants and joint ventures elsewhere in Asia. The design and specification are GS Yuasa's whichever plant builds them. The case label states the country of manufacture.
GS comes from Genzo Shimadzu, the founder of Japan Storage Battery. That company merged with Yuasa Corporation in 2004 to form GS Yuasa. You will see both GS and Yuasa branded batteries from the same group.
Yes, GS is one of the closest matches to what Toyota fits from the factory in many markets, and its JIS sizes drop straight in. Pick the MF type for a car without idle-stop and EFB for one with it. Hybrid Toyotas need the correct 12V auxiliary battery, which we confirm from the VIN.
GS MF is fully sealed and never needs water. GS Hybrid uses a mixed plate alloy and has removable caps, so it needs an occasional electrolyte check, especially after a UAE summer. Most private car owners are better served by the MF type.
