Why is the clear coat peeling on my roof and bonnet?
Years of strong UV light break down the clear coat, the transparent top layer that protects the colour underneath. Horizontal panels face the sun head-on, so they fail first, particularly on cars that live in open parking. Once it peels, polishing cannot save it, and the panel needs sanding back and a fresh clear coat.
Will the new paint match the rest of the car?
The factory code is only the starting point, because the original paint has aged in the sun. The painter sprays a test card, compares it with the car in daylight and adjusts the mix, then blends into the adjacent panels so there is no visible line where new paint meets old.
How long does a panel respray take?
A single panel usually takes two to three days including preparation, painting, baking and polishing. Several panels, or a full roof and bonnet, can take longer, and you get a firm return date before the car is collected.
