American cars and BCI group sizes
US-built cars and trucks use BCI group sizes such as 48 (H6), 49 (H8), 65 and 94R (H7). Big V8s and full-size SUVs need high cold-cranking amps and reserve capacity.

- Some heavy-duty trucks carry two batteries that should be replaced as a pair.
- Newer GM and Ford models have a battery monitor that benefits from a reset after fitting.

The Wrangler JL and Gladiator with start-stop carry a small auxiliary battery next to the main one, and a failing auxiliary triggers start-stop warnings by itself.

The Grand Cherokee WK2 (2011–2021) keeps its battery under the front passenger seat rather than in the engine bay, with jump terminals under the bonnet.

Main batteries on newer Jeeps are usually H6 or H7 DIN sizes, in AGM where start-stop is fitted.

A Service Start/Stop System warning on a Wrangler JL is very often the auxiliary battery giving up, and replacing only the main battery will not clear it.

Where is the battery in a Jeep Grand Cherokee?
On the WK2 generation it sits under the front passenger seat, and the seat and floor cover have to be moved to reach it. Jump-start terminals are under the bonnet for convenience. Our technician checks your model year before arriving.
Is an Optima battery a good choice for a Wrangler?
An Optima spiral-cell AGM resists vibration well and suits Jeeps that spend time off-road or run a winch. For mostly city driving, a quality AGM in the original size gives similar service.
Does the Wrangler auxiliary battery need replacing?
It ages like any battery and in UAE heat often fails within three to four years. We test it separately from the main battery and replace it when it is the one triggering the warning.
How long does a Jeep battery last in the UAE?
In UAE conditions a Jeep battery typically lasts 2–3 years. Heat, short trips and long periods parked shorten that, so we recommend a test once the battery passes two years.
